Balik Kampung Story

We went by car. Mr H picked me up from office around 7pm and we stopped at R&R Gua Musang at 10.30pm for our dinner. And arrived safely at 2pm.

I had a satisfying time. Where do I want to start? Let me see... Since I love eating, we start from food.

Food

First day, I had Nasi Kerabu with Ayam Bakar which I bought from Restoran Laili nearby my house. For lunch, we had none as we were all having a very heavy breakfast. Of course we were not having the nasi kerabu only, all those kuih muih. They are still selling it at 4 pieces for RM1. That is considered already quite expensive. Last time it was RM1 for 5 pieces. In the afternoon, we went visiting my mother's auntie. So since she has some delicious lauk, Mr H & me volunteer to eat there. Ha ha ha. Followed by Amalin. Mr H was inspired by the budu & tempoyak, me because of the sambal pauh and Amalin because of sambal tumis udang. All three of us were having 2 helpings. Hmm... delicious... For dinner, my SIL invited us to her house. She cooked crab, squids, fish, vegetable, eggs and plus other more. Cannot even remember. Mr H was having 2-3 helpings! And this is only first day.

Second day, my mother cousin came and picked mak from home to go to the new Pasar Borong. So, we just ordered from mak what we want for breakfast. I had the normal Nasi Belauk and my extra will be Nasi Himpit with sambal kelapa & satay, Mr H had Nasi Dagang, Nasi Himpit with sambal and satay, the children nasi belauk, mak & tok only nasi himpit.. (tak kenyang aa makan nasi himpit saje)...

We skipped lunch because already fueled up. So me, Amalia, Mr H & mak went to Rantau Panjang. We left Amani, Amalin & tok at my auntie's house. Dinner, my MIL had a kenduri tahlil at her house. So makan free lagi. This time, something light. Buns with curry. My favourite dish. I just love orang Kelantan's curry. Different from the normal curry we are having here in KL or Penang.

Third day, breakfast, manage to wake Mr H to go and buy nasi belauk Kak Wok. So we had that except for mak. She said enough nasi for breakfast. Lunch, I went out for a while with Mr H to go somewhere. I cannot recall where to though! And we bought Nasi Padprik, Nasi Daging Merah & Nasi Goreng for lunch at Shafie Restoran. This is my family favourite restaurant. For dinner, my favourite place. Restoran Malaysia. It sells steamboat. This place has long existed since I was a little kid. But few times ago when I went back to KB, the restraurant was not there. So I was a bit sad. I thought the restaurant has been closed for good. And not being a steamboat lover, Mr H confidently told me the restraurant has been closed down. But thank god, I asked Mr H friend, he showed where is the new location! Hah! Mr H was crestfallen. He he he.....

Sunday morning.. I don't feel like eating all those nasi. So I only had bread with satay gravy that we had the other day. Just heat it up. Lunch, we bought at a nearby stall near my house. Dinner, we had meals at London Fish Tales @ Tesco.

Places We Went / Activity

Since the last trip to KB (during election) we (me, mak and the rest) only stay at home because Mr H was busy with the election (macam dia calon & dia pengundi - walhal dia daftar pun tak... ) so we made him promised to bring to all places we want to go... He he he.. He got no choice.

Rantau Panjang - It was hot and gratefully Amalia is not wailing except when she was hungry and hot. We stopped to eat and rest for a while. Basically to cool Amalia down. Then continued for a few more minutes (about 45 minutes to be exact, it is considered a few kan?) What we bought there? A few clothes for me, Mr H and children, 2 comforters, 2 bantal kekabu and we were wondering where we are going to put all the things in the car when we are going back to KL. Mr H said, boleh punye... Mak bought few kain sarung and cashew nuts.

Relatives Houses - Basically these houses are the must houses we go if we went back to Kelantan. From KB till Pasir Mas. Not only my relatives, Mr H's as well. Well, Mr H more on his siblings houses. Even though we went only to his sister's house this time round.

Tesco - As if KL/Selangor has not Tesco at all... Saje nak tengok suasana. And guess what, the Big Apple shop tak payah beratur pun! Boleh pilih donuts selama mana nak pilih!

Well, I guess that's all my activity during my balik kampung time.

Yup, on Monday I was on leave as well because to ensure proper rest before coming back to work. We departure (ha ha ha.. macam naik kapal terbang..) at 11pm and arrived at 4am. Very tiring.
